Reactive Dog 5-Week Board and Train Program: The Reactive Dog Retreat

This 5-week Board and Train Program is designed specifically for dogs who exhibit reactive behaviors, such as barking, lunging, growling, or pulling when encountering certain triggers like other dogs, people, or environmental stimuli. Reactivity can be stressful for both the dog and owner, but with the right training approach, I can help your dog build better coping skills, reduce anxiety, and learn to remain calm in situations that previously triggered them.

Unlike traditional facility-based training, this program takes place at the trainer’s home in San Tan Valley, AZ, where your dog can receive the focused, individualized attention they need in a safe and calm setting. In a facility, dogs are often housed next to each other, which can lead to added stress, especially for reactive dogs who may become more agitated by the sight and sound of other dogs. This constant exposure can make it harder for your dog to learn and remain calm. In contrast, my in-home setting provides a quieter, less stimulating environment that helps your dog focus on their training without the added stressors of a facility environment, making it easier to address reactivity and make lasting progress.

What’s Included:

• In-Home Training: Your dog will stay with me in my home in San Tan Valley for 5 weeks, where I will work with them daily to reduce reactivity.

• Transfer Session: After the 5-week program, we’ll have a one-on-one transfer session at your home to review all the training techniques and ensure you feel equipped to continue your dog’s progress at home.

• Follow-Up Support: You will have 3 one-hour video call follow-up sessions to track your dog’s continued progress, ask questions, and receive ongoing support and guidance.

• Post-Program Support: Even after the program concludes, I will provide 4 weeks of post-program support via email to assist with any issues or adjustments as your dog transitions back to their everyday routine.

• Regular Updates: Throughout the program, I will provide you with regular video and/or photo updates to show you the progress your dog is making. You’ll be able to follow along and celebrate milestones as they occur.

• Mid-Program Check-In: A mid-program email check-in will allow us to discuss your dog’s progress, address any concerns, and ensure we’re on the right path for success.

What to Expect from Reactive Dog Training:

• Behavior Modification: Reactivity often stems from fear, frustration or over stimulation, or lack of confidence. Through desensitization and counter-conditioning, I’ll help your dog change their emotional response to these triggers.

• Controlled Exposure: I will expose your dog to controlled scenarios that mimic real-life triggers, allowing me to teach them how to remain calm and focused in these situations. The goal is to teach them to choose calm behavior over reactive responses.

• Confidence Building: Training will focus on building your dog’s self-confidence and reinforcing positive behaviors, helping them feel more secure in their environment.

Deposit Policy:

To secure your dog’s spot, a refundable deposit of $1,000 is required at the time of booking. This deposit will be applied toward the total program cost.

Cancellation Policy:

• Cancellations made 14 or more days before the program start date are eligible for a refund of the deposit.

• Cancellations made within 14 days of the program start date will forfeit the deposit.
